There are many reasons that it is worth it to file, but the biggest reason is that there are tax credits (aka money) that you can ONLY get if you file. So, if you don’t file, you can’t get these credits. Often they can be worth thousands of dollars! Many people also have taxes withheld from their paychecks. If you make less than the standard deduction, then you should be getting all of that money back. But again, you can only get it back if you file taxes!
